Fanta Flavour Lab - 2013

The Fanta Flavour Lab campaign saw the rapid development of an iOS and Android application along with a Facebook Flash game and a networked multiplayer Kinect game.

Flavour Lab

The Flavour Lab mobile application was released on both iOS and Android. The application has 4 mini games, 3 of which I solely developed.

The “Flavour Lab” is a game that requires the user to press on either side of the screen to move their character to catch the drops. Each level has a set amount of drops that are required to be caught to continue to the next level. Once the player has lost all of their lives their score is posted to the leaderboards. The players that were on top of the leaderboards during certain weeks of the campaign won prizes from Fanta. Flavour Lab was additionally ported to a Flash version allowing users to compete for prizes on Facebook.

Flavour Lab Kinect

The Flavour Lab Kinect game appeared across all of Australia at numerous Fanta promotional events. The game is a networked multiplayer game that requires players to use their arms to catch more drops than their opponent before the time runs out.

Sound Lab

The “Sound Lab” was a game / music sequencer that allowed users to mix and match sounds to different beats while the character would do specific dance moves to the played back beats. The players were also able to share their tracks to their friends on Facebook by creating a link to a flash version that would play back their song. The biggest challenge for this game was keeping the audio in sync on all platforms making sure the older devices didn’t struggle to play back the tunes in time.

Scan Lab

The “Scan Lab” used Augmented Reality to animate and create special effects around Fanta bottles that were scanned with the application. Additionally the Scan Lab would reward users with competition points that would increase their chances of winning weekly prizes.
